Hand eczema is one of the most common forms of eczema, yet it can be particularly persistent and difficult to manage.

On 16 April at 6pm, we hosted our free online webinar, Hope for Hand Eczema: Managing Flares and New Treatment Developments, delivered in partnership with St John's DermAcademy.

Dr Felicity Ferguson and Dr Richard Woolf shared the latest insights into managing hand eczema, including emerging treatment developments. Our expert dermatology panel also answered questions live, offering practical, evidence-based guidance.

At the moment, Delgocitinib have to be initiated by a specialist but this may change and can vary depending where in the country you are.

In the research trials, there were no serious side effects to the medication and treatment. In the trial 1% of participants reported a small amount of reactions at the point of treatment

Fissures are cracks in the skin caused by hand eczema which can be often deep and incredibly painful.

Managing fissures and trying to heal the cracks alongside other hand eczema treatments are important. Things that can help fissures include:

Frequent moisturising to protect and repair the skin barrier
Dressings like Douderm which is a light dressing which you can wash or shower with
Steroid Impregnated tapes and plasters can also be useful
