Closing comments from Andrew Proctor: Eczema Awareness Week

21st September 2026

Eczema Awareness Week is one of the most important weeks in our calendar. It's a time for our community to come together and talk all things eczema, and this year felt especially significant as our first Eczema Awareness Week under our new name and look.

This year's theme, 'It's Not Just Skin: The Hidden Burden of Eczema,' shone a light on something our community has always known: eczema reaches far beyond the skin, into sleep, mental health, relationships, finances and everyday life. The daily challenges of managing symptoms, avoiding triggers and simply facing the world can be daunting, and it's not something anyone should have to face alone.

This was our biggest ever Eczema Awareness Week, and I'm incredibly proud of how our community came together to make it so. Thank you to everyone who got involved with #SeeWhatISee, sharing honest, powerful glimpses into what living with eczema really looks like. Special thanks to Laurie and Jesse, and Jonathan and Lydia, for sharing their own deeply personal stories with us. It takes real courage to speak so openly about something so difficult, and by doing so, you help others feel less alone and help the wider world understand just how much eczema can affect a life.

Together, we have the opportunity to be heard, and to ensure everyone affected by eczema gets the care, support and understanding they deserve. To everyone who shared, supported and showed up this week, thank you. This is what community looks like.
