Eczema Awareness Week

Eczema Awareness Week - 12-19 September

It's Not Just Skin

This Eczema Awareness Week, we're challenging how eczema is seen and understood by exploring the hidden burden of eczema.

About Eczema Awareness Week

Earlier this year, we became Eczema UK. That change was about more than a new name, it was about giving everyone affected by eczema a stronger voice. This Eczema Awareness Week, we're using that voice to challenge how eczema is seen and understood, exploring the hidden burden of eczema, the physical, mental, emotional and financial weight that everyone affected by eczema carries, often unseen.

Content pillars

Explore our help and support resources for eczema across four areas of everyday life.

Physical burden

Eczema is more than dry, itchy skin. Flare-ups can disrupt sleep, limit movement, and make everyday tasks a source of pain or discomfort.

Mental burden

Living with a chronic, visible condition takes a toll on mental wellbeing, which is rarely discussed.

Financial burden

Prescriptions, specialist clothing, time off work - the cost of managing eczema adds up.

#SeeWhatISee: Share your experience

For Eczema Awareness Week, we're asking those affected by eczema to share photos which show both sides of their experience, however different or similar they might look, so people can understand what it really means to live with eczema.

To get involved, share a post to social media about your experience with eczema using the hashtag #SeeWhatISee and tag us. You can also send your photos to us directly if you'd rather share privately.

Your stories

Jonathan & Lydia's story

Jonathan and Lydia's youngest daughter, Lyra, developed severe eczema when she was just three months old. This September, this couple are taking on the Great North Run together in support of Eczema UK, and they asked to share their story with us.

Coming soon: Laurie's Story - A lifetime with eczema

Laurie developed eczema as a young child and it’s been part of her life ever since. Over the years she progressed to stronger and stronger treatments until, at 27, she experienced severe Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW). It lasted around a year and completely turned her world upside down.

Join our webinar exploring the hidden burdens of eczema

On 17 September, we're hosting a free online webinar exploring the hidden burden of eczema from the emotional and psychological impact, to the daily workload of treatment, and the effects on sleep, school, work and relationships.

Our expert speakers will share the latest research, clinical insight and patient perspectives, followed by a live panel Q&A where you can put your questions to our panel of experts.
